NBA 2K21: How to Take a Perfect Shot
You often come across the ball in NBA 2K21, but it can sometimes be difficult to throw shots with any kind of consistency. This can be for a number of reasons; It may be that your stats are not good enough for the type of shots you are taking (shot selection) or it could be that you are not aiming the shots correctly. This quick guide will teach you how to make a perfect shot in NBA 2K21.
As you begin your MyCareer adventure, you will want to configure your player in a certain way to match the way you, the player, like to play basketball. If you have chosen a player who shoots at medium range or above the 3-point line, you will need to ensure that the timing / aim of the shot is as good as possible at all times.
This guide above goes through updating your player’s stats. This is very important because hitting those perfect “timed green” shots will be extremely difficult without at least a few points awarded for throwing the ball.
There are two main ways to shoot the ball in NBA 2K21; First, there’s the classic timed method, which involves holding down the designated fire button until the player reaches the top of their jump. Fortunately, this is shown on screen along with a kind of timing minigame; hold the fire button and a meter will appear, continue to hold the button until the line reaches the center of an orange section of the meter. If this syncs perfectly, the entire icon will turn green and you will be guaranteed to create the basket (unless blocked by an opposing player).
Although the classic method of shooting is the preferred method of many people, this year 2K introduced a point-and-shoot mechanism. Rather than relying on time, it relies heavily on the player’s ability to aim the shot with the right stick. To start filming this way, just hold down the right analog stick. Once the lever is held down, the same gauge will appear as with the classic method, but this time you use the right lever to deftly move the scope to the center of the orange section. Again, if done accurately, the icon will turn green and take the perfect shot.
The best advice we can give you is to go to the game gym with a neutron shooter like Steph Curry and try both methods. I will say that the new aiming technique may be better if you play in the neighborhood as it removes any kind of lag from the equation.
